Oh dear. It's awkward for the jailbirds. Doggone it.
There are about 4,000 inmates in L.A. County Men's Jail. Conrad Murray is one of them, except he is being housed in the administrative segregation unit. That's where they put the 'special' inmates -- those whose celebrity status might threaten their safety from other prisoners.
The former physician, convicted of manslaughter in the murder of icon Michael Jackson, is in a cell only feet away from James DeBarge, an ex brother-in-law of Jackson. And DeBarge is mad about that.
DeBarge was briefly married to Janet Jackson in 1984 and still, 28 years later, considered Michael Jackson as a brother.
James DeBarge was lead singer of the wildly popular sibling music group, like the Jacksons, recording R&B and pop hits from 1979 to 1989. Among their many hits on the top charts was :"All This Love," "I Like It," "Love Me in a Special Way," and "Rhythm of the Night." See Wikipedia for more on DeBarge.
DeBarge has been arrested several times and has battled drug addiction, according to News One. Currently he is incarcerated for assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges.
Spencer Vodnoy, attorney for DeBarge, said DeBarge is "really upset" that he's locked up so close to Murray, reports TMZ. An addict, DeBarge threated to hurt someone with a deadly weapon to get drugs. Murray didn't threaten. However, he killed with drugs being the deadly weapon.
